Hey, Traveling Spud readers! My name is Emily. I’m so excited to be blogging for Katie today about what to wear when visiting San Francisco!
I’ve officially lived in San Francisco for five years, and I feel like I’m enough of a local at this point to speak to our crazy Northern California weather for all of you who either live here or may visit one day. San Francisco is a beautiful place, but don’t come imagining 80 degree summer days with blue skies. Our summers are traditionally cold, foggy and windy and summer is typically our coldest season by far. Too many times I see tourists walking by my apartment windows in tank tops and shorts when it’s 55 and windy outside — don’t be one of those people!
So what are my San Francisco packing and fashion tips? Prepare yourself with layers that you can easily take on and off, wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a big bag you can throw extra layers into as you shed them off.
For example, here’s my standard San Francisco outfit:
Madewell tote // Zara leather jacket // Rag & Bone skinny jeans // Michael Kors watch
This Madewell tote is great for just that — its neutral so it goes with everything and it’s big enough to throw my wallet, phone, jacket and umbrella into. These flats from ASOS are great for walking the steep San Francisco hills. Lastly, I paired my basic t-shirt (a true SF staple!) with my most comfortable Rag & Bone jeans for a neutral look.
Xo,
Emily
