If you’re looking for an easy spring getaway trip that doesn’t require a ton of planning, I’ve found the perfect option!
I spent 2 days in Wilsonville, Oregon, a small town about 30 minutes outside of Portland, and it turned out to be the perfect home base for tulip fields, wineries, and a few unexpectedly good small-town stops.
Below, I’ll be sharing exactly what I did, where I went, and what’s actually worth your time if you’re planning a spring trip here.
While we’re at it, let’s be friends on Instagram and Tiktok!

Day 1: Travel, Tulips + Wine
Morning: Fly into Portland + Breakfast Stop

I got into Portland Airport (PDX) in the early AM, and if you haven’t been to this airport recently, it has gotten a major upgrade, and it looks SO good! There are gorgeous wooden ceilings, natural light, local shops and even trees growing out of the ground. I tried to enjoy a bit of time walking around before grabbing my rental car, and I highly recommend spending time here if you can swing it.
My first stop after leaving the airport was heading to Lux Sucre Bakery & Cafe. This is a cute bakery and cafe located in Charbonneau, which is a neighborhood in Wilsonville with a little French-inspired flair. It was the perfect way to start the day. I had a latte, some macaroons, and a breakfast sandwich to fuel up for my tulip field adventures.
Also, if you’re gluten-free, they have options for you (!!), which is not always the case.

Late Morning: Tulip Fields at French Prairie Gardens
This is where the trip really starts to feel like spring! I drove over to a farm called French Prairie Gardens. They are known for their local produce, hanging flower baskets, and a family-friendly farm with thousands of tulips in bloom!
Every April, they have a Tulip & Flower Fest and do a lot of different events all year long. In the fall, they also have a pumpkin patch and juice their own apples for hot apple cider.
I was blown away by this farm, and basically had it to myself because I was visiting on a weekday! If you’re looking for a not-so-crowded farm where the kids can run around, this is a great option. Don’t miss their little shop on the way out for some baked goods or pickles/salsas! See their upcoming events here.

Afternoon: Wine + Snacks at Lanphere Cellars
After the tulip fields, I went over to Lanphere Cellars, a locally owned family winery in the area. I got a wine flight and charcuterie board, and it was the perfect place to spend the afternoon. Their different shared plates and wine flight options are excellent, and they have a patio for nicer days! Fun fact: if you look down at their floor or their bar area, you’ll notice they are actually old bowling alley lanes. So fun! This is your sign to not skip this stop!

Evening: Check into Hotel + Dinner at The Parkway Grille
After wine tasting, I headed off to check into my hotel, Best Western Plus Parkway Inn. It was a great location and a perfect home base to explore this area of Oregon!
I then headed over to dinner at Parkway Grille (inside the Hilton Garden Inn), and it was one of those easy, solid dinners where everything just hits. They are known for their Pacific Northwest fare, and I learned that the chef actually grows some of the fresh vegetables himself from his garden. Don’t be fooled that it’s inside a hotel; the food and cocktails were delicious, and they had great service!

Day 2: Tulip Festival + Antique Shopping
Morning: Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival
The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival is exactly what you picture when you think of Oregon tulip fields in the spring. They have rows and rows of colorful tulips, and it’s very popular! I recommend going early if you can because it can get busy, especially on the weekends.
Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival has been around for 40+ years, and it’s a full production! They have a cafe, wine and beer shop, huge gift shop, booths with vendors, carnival rides for kids, and then of course the tulip fields. You can make an entire morning of it and stay for lunch. They had so many tulips, I felt like I was in the Netherlands! I definitely recommend visiting this one if you can.

Afternoon: Aurora + Slow Exploring
After the tulips, I drove over to Aurora, an adorable little town full of antique shops. If you love antiques, like me, this is a great stop, since their entire main street is lined with antique shops.
A few standout stops:
- White Rabbit Bakery – This was a delicious bakery with gluten-free options, which I was very excited about. I got granola, a cinnamon roll, and a sandwich, and all of it was delicious.
- The Cobbler Cafe – I went in for coffee and ended up meeting the owner, who is actually a well-known designer! Just one of those unexpected travel moments that make a trip memorable. He did such a wonderful job designing this coffee shop.
- Aurora Mills Architectural Salvage and Annex – This was a GORGEOUS store, and the Annex is brand new. Everything inside is so unique. It’s expensive, but very much worth a walk through.
- Mill Creek Market, Hwy. 99e Antique Mall & Main Street Mercantile – Just a few other antique shops on the main road that are worth popping into!

Late Afternoon: Nature Walk + Exploring Canby
After exploring Aurora, I went over to another small town near Wilsonville, called Canby. It’s small, but that’s kind of the charm. A few shops, coffee spots, and just an easy place to wander without an agenda.
I walked around downtown a bit and stopped into a few cute shops like: The Book Nook, Tin & Paisley Boutique, and Sadie Rose Boutique. Oregon City Brewing’s Canby Beer Library looked like an awesome afternoon spot to relax as well!

After a quick break at the hotel back in Wilsonville, I decided to take a walk through Graham Oaks Nature Park. Try not to miss this park, it is a gorgeous 250-acre nature reserve with quiet trails, fresh air, and some public art installations. You can also ride your bike on some of the trails, do a full hike, a short walk, or even bring your dog on portions of the trail. I loved finding a little daffodil field and public art display near a bench and a weeping willow. It was the perfect calming place to reset!

Evening: Dinner at Lumière
For dinner, I headed back over to Charbonneau for a French-inspired dinner at Lumière. This spot was highly recommended to me as another delicious family-owned spot in the area! The restaurant has a great vibe and outdoor patio seating. I ordered a cocktail, some light bites, and the steak frites. The food was wonderful and so was the service. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area! It felt like the perfect “last night of vacation” kind of place.

Got more time in Wilsonville?
If you have more time in Wilsonville, I was recommended a few more stops that I didn’t get the chance to visit. Sounds like I need to make a trip back!
Where to Stay in Wilsonville, Oregon
I stayed at the Best Western Plus Parkway Inn, which was super convenient, clean, and honestly just an easy place to stay. They have free breakfast in the morning, and it’s a great central location for everything on this itinerary—especially if you’re bouncing between Wilsonville, Aurora, and the tulip farms.

Final Thoughts
Wilsonville is one of those places that makes a really easy spring trip. You get tulip fields, wineries, small-town charm, and you’re still right next to Portland if you want to extend your trip.
If you’re coming from Boise or anywhere on the West Coast, this is such a low-effort, but high-reward getaway! And yes, the tulip fields are definitely worth it! 🙂
