I’ve been looking forward to visiting Eugene, Oregon for a long time since my dad went to college at the University of Oregon! So when I got the opportunity to visit, I was thrilled! One of the main reasons for coming to Eugene was wine tasting, exploring the town, checking out of U of O, and also staying at the new Gordon Hotel!
I’ve stayed at The Gordon Hotel’s sister hotel, The Inn at 500 in Boise, Idaho, and thought it was so unique, so was excited to check out The Gordon!
The Gordon Hotel is a charming and unique hotel in the heart of Eugene, Oregon. It’s considered an artist-centric hotel with natural light and comfortable furnishings. Read on to learn more about my experience here!

Where to Stay in Eugene, Oregon: The Gordon Hotel
Getting to The Gordon Hotel
Eugene, Oregon, is located in an easy location near downtown. If you’re not renting a car, I recommend using their complimentary airport shuttle that you can book in advance. Since it’s right in the middle of Eugene, it’s easy to find, located at 555 Oak St., Eugene, OR 97401, just about 9 miles from the airport.
If you’re driving to The Gordon Hotel as I did, they have valet parking for $20/per car per day. The other option is to find street parking as they don’t have the option for self-parking.
The Gordon Hotel Lobby & Check-In
This hotel is extremely unique and won TripAdvisors Top 25 Hottest Hotels in the US! The lobby is one of the most art-centric spaces in the hotel, with impressive art installations and lighting, comfortable seating spaces, the restaurant, Gordon Tavern, and The Art Bar, where you can do arts and crafts in the lobby.
Not only is the staff extremely welcoming and friendly, but they are knowledgeable and gave us wonderful local recommendations.
Upon entering the lobby you’ll be offered complimentary welcome drinks including local wine and beer along with complimentary snacks. It’s a great way to start your stay! Plus, you can take them over to the Art Bar and whip up some creative pieces while you’re in the lobby.
Behind the check-in counter, they also have a speakeasy. Ask the front desk about it. We thought it was a fun, secret touch!
The hotel has a total of 82 rooms, including suites with balconies overlooking Eugene.
All rooms have beautiful natural light and views of Eugene, allowing you to watch the sunrise or sunset! The beds were extremely comfortable with Italian linens, and they had amazing locally crafted tea and coffee.
Note: They are also pet-friendly! The fee is $75 per pet per stay.
Inside each room, you’ll find colorful art-focused decor that goes along with the overall theme of this hotel. Check out my video tour of our room and the hotel here.
One of the highlights, besides the amazing views, was the plush robes that I love at every hotel I stay in! Other in-room amenities include a full-length mirror, makeup mirror, mini-fridge, workstation, safe, free Wi-Fi, and original artwork.
In the hallways, they have refillable water bottle stations, which I thought was an amazing green initiative.
Grounds & Amenities
The Gordon Tavern
Upon entering the hotel on the right side (across from the Art Bar), you’ll find the entrance to The Gordon Tavern. This is a classic American comfort food restaurant with rustic decor, great staples, and an extensive list of cocktails and craft beer.
If you enjoy Mexican food, come to Carlita’s Rooftop for tacos on the rooftop of the Gordon Hotel. You’ll find small plates with authentic Mexican food and great views of the 5th Street Public Market down below. Definitely get one of their many flavors of margaritas!
We almost completely missed this speakeasy because it’s so hidden! But definitely make sure to go! It’s tucked behind the check-in desk and requires a reservation and password to enter. You can reserve this on their website or front desk. It’s dimly lit and has amazing handcrafted cocktails and delicious small plates for sharing.
The hotel has a large gym that has just about every gym amenity you could need! Even the floor represents the colors of the Oregon Ducks. They also offer complimentary cruiser bikes so you can enjoy a ride in downtown Eugene or along the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path System along the river.
5th Street Public Market
The 5th Street Public Market is located right outside The Gordon Hotel and boasts tons of restaurants, boutique shops, wineries, distilleries, and music and art. It’s a great place to spend the afternoon and it’s connected to the hotel!
Meetings, Weddings, and Events
The Gordon Hotel takes great pride in hosting exceptional events. They have spacious rooms, break-out spaces, and an outdoor terrace on their second floor specifically for events! They also offer full-service catering. Check out their different event and meeting rooms here.
Room rates fluctuate depending on what time of year it is, but I recommend checking out the Gordon Hotel website to get the best prices for when you’re planning on visiting. They also are regularly running special offers if you can see any that work for you here.
