Where to Stay in McCall, Idaho: Shore Lodge

McCall is hands-down one of my favorite places in Idaho. In fact, I grew up going to this quaint mountain town my entire life and love it so much that I decided to get married in McCall at Shore Lodge on New Year’s Eve!

It definitely holds a special place in my heart, and I have some of the most incredible memories on the beautiful Payette Lake. So, when I had the chance to stay at Shore Lodge (located directly on Payette Lake) in the fall, I knew I needed to check it out.

Shore Lodge has been located on Payette Lake since 1948 and is the quintessential McCall Resort. They’ve done a great job perfecting the union of luxury and adventure. Shore Lodge has some of the best views in all of McCall and offers incredibly unique amenities that are perfect for families, couples, and groups. If you’re looking for where to stay in McCall, Idaho, or want to get out of town for a fall getaway, Shore Lodge is the perfect mountain escape!

Getting to Shore Lodge

If you’re flying or coming from Boise, Idaho, you’ll want to rent a car or drive your car to get to McCall. This is roughly a 2-hour drive from Boise, and Shore Lodge is located at 501 W Lake St, McCall, ID 83638, just past the downtown area.

The resort offers transportation via their complimentary guest shuttles, which are available for in-town drop-offs and pick-ups, as well as shuttles to and from Brundage Mountain during the ski season. This is based on availability and can be scheduled by contacting the valet team near the front desk. We had their shuttle take us to and from a hike at Ponderosa State Park, and it made everything so easy!

If you’re driving to the Shore Lodge, they have complimentary valet parking, or you can self-park in their lot.

Shore Lodge Lobby & Check-In

This resort is exceptionally unique as it is the oldest lakefront resort in McCall! Plus, the staff are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable about the McCall area.

Upon entering the lobby, you’ll notice Shore Lodge has maintained their historical roots but has modernized the decor. There’s a beautiful lobby sitting area, fireplace, and easy access to The Bar with sweeping views of Payette Lake! To the right, as you walk in, you’ll also find the Mercantile with locally-crafted specialty items as well as The Narrows Steakhouse, which is perfect for a steakhouse dinner on the lake.

Shore Lodge also offers refreshments like water and wine upon check-in, which I think is a great touch!

Rooms

Looking for a cozy, relaxing night? These rooms have it all! The resort has all types of rooms, including Lake View Suites, Lake Front Suites, Fireside Suites, Executive and Presidential Suites.

We stayed in their newly remodeled Lakeview Suite, and it was phenomenal. It had panoramic views of Payette Lake with a beautiful private balcony that we enjoyed with our robes and coffee every morning. The bed was beyond comfy, the carpet was unique (it had really cool branch designs on it), and there was plenty of room because of the seating area and pull-out couch. They also did a turn-down service at night. Hello, fresh cookies!! Check out my video tour of our room here.

Besides the fantastic views, my personal highlight was the luxurious robes! Other in-room amenities include a refrigerator, patio, sitting area, desk, complimentary in-room water bottles, walk-in shower, plush robes, free wi-fi, coffee maker, creamer in the refrigerator (love that touch), and safe.

Onsite Restaurants

Shore Lodge has three onsite restaurants specializing in serving up the delicious flavors of the Pacific Northwest.

The Narrows Steakhouse

If you’re looking for fine dining in McCall, this is the spot. The Narrows Steakhouse is a wonderful dining venue with rustic decor and epic views of Payette Lake. The sophisticated eatery offers a collection of over 450+ wines and an international selection of steak knives to seamlessly cut through your premium steak of choice.

The Cutwater on Payette Lake

The Cutwater is a fun restaurant serving year-round breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I’m a big fan of their breakfast, trout dip, and cocktails! They have indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy during the different seasons. With a larger group? This is a great place to accommodate your party.

The Bar

If you’re looking for insane views with a fun vibe, The Bar is where you need to go! You can order from a fabulous selection of bar food and sip on outstanding wine and cocktails. Definitely order the Shore Fashioned, and don’t miss their new line-up of fall cocktails that will be available to order starting October 14th, 2022!

Pool, Fitness & Outdoor Sports

Not only is Shore Lodge located directly on Payette Lake with a beautiful beach, dock, and swimming area, but they also have two hot tubs (one smaller and one larger) and a heated pool!

This is great for the cooler months, and you can still get views of the lake while soaking at the pool. Once you’re done swimming, you can have lunch or cocktails at The Pool Bar. At dawn, head on over to the outdoor firepit to take in the sights and roast some marshmallows!

Feeling adventurous? Throughout the summer season, you can also rent out kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards, or even boats from their Marina for some fun on the lake.

Cruiser bikes are also offered based on availability, and they are a fantastic way to explore downtown McCall!

If you’d rather get your sweat on indoors, Shore Lodge also has a pretty decent-sized fitness studio for working out.

The Cove, An Authentic McCall Spa

One of my personal favorite parts about Shore Lodge is The Cove. The beautiful pools remind me of hidden Idaho hot springs. Their massages are exceptional, and you can order food and drink at the spa before and after your treatment, which is an excellent touch. I think this spa is one of the best parts of Shore Lodge and think it would be so luxurious to visit during a fall getaway!

The Theater and The Tank

Yes, Shore Lodge is perfect for a romantic getaway, but it’s also very family-friendly! In fact, they have a full-blown movie theater complete with a popcorn machine and soda! You can go to the front desk to request from one of their hundreds of movie selections, and they will do a private showing in the theater, or they will come set it up in your room, complete with popcorn and soda!

Near The Theater is a 2,000-gallon fish tank with tropical marine life, and near The Tank is a game room full of classic games, connect four, foosball, and more!

Weddings + Events

Shore Lodge takes great pride in hosting exceptional events. Their weddings offer first-class food and beverage possibilities with a majestic view of Payette Lake and mountains in the distance. I’m getting married here and have been to multiple weddings at Shore Lodge, and it never disappoints!
