Where to Stay in Santa Fe - inn and spa at loretto

Wondering where to stay in Santa Fe?

Look no further than the Inn and Spa at Loretto!

For my first time in Santa Fe, I wanted to go big. And by big I mean I wanted to stay in a large adobe-like structure in downtown Santa Fe.

This is precisely why I chose to stay at the Inn and Spa at Loretto. This luxury, boutique hotel is located in the heart of downtown Santa Fe and is only a block away from the famous Santa Fe Plaza. Plus, it’s walkable to Canyon Road, Palace of the Governors, and all of the fun restaurants and bars in Santa Fe. Peep my Santa Fe itinerary blog here from my trip in April.

Also, while we’re at it, let’s be friends on @instagram!

Getting to Santa Fe and the Inn and Spa at Loretto

Santa Fe isn’t the easiest place to get to and typically requires a flight connection depending on where you come from. My girlfriends and I looked at flights directly to Santa Fe and realized it would be easiest to just fly into Albuquerque and rent a car. The drive is exactly 1 hour from Albuquerque to Santa Fe and the hotel is located directly downtown.

I personally flew from Boise (BOI) and connected in Las Vegas (LAS). My girlfriends flew from New York (JFK) and connected in Atlanta (ATL) to get to Albuquerque (ABQ). If you’re coming from somewhere closer, like Denver, you could make a fun road trip out of it!

We ended up renting a car to get around and found it to be useful for our weekend adventures. However, you walk most places and there are Ubers as well. A perk of this hotel? It has parking on-site.

Lobby & Check-in

This hotel has the BEST Southwestern style with iconic adobe architecture that is perfect for a girl’s weekend, family getaway, or small group adventure. The design was just perfect and exactly what I wanted for a weekend in Santa Fe. Not only was the staff extremely friendly—providing me with maps of the area, and a sweet welcome card—but they provided me with wonderful recommendations and were super accommodating.

Upon entering the lobby, you pass by a few art shops and boutiques that you’ll quickly start realizing is the overall theme of Santa Fe. Inside the lobby, you’ll find authentic decor from the American South and an incredibly decorated bar and lounge—perfect for happy hour later!

The Rooms at Inn and Spa at Loretto

The hotel has 136 rooms, including a Penthouse suite. We stayed in their Terraza guest room with a balcony looking out over the courtyard below. We were also greeted with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our girl’s weekend (thanks Inn and Spa at Loretto)!

The rooms are spacious and comfortable and since we had to get a bit of work done there, it was so nice to have a desk inside and a balcony with a table outside.

On top of the amazing balcony—that just made the room feel larger—there was a great leather chair in the corner, great wifi, coffee maker, desk, and robes (my favorite thing ever). I highly recommend getting a room with a balcony so you can sit out on the patio in the morning to enjoy your coffee over Santa Fe.

We stayed for 2- nights and I didn’t want to leave!

Grounds & Amenities

Dining + Happy Hour

Upon entering the hotel at the back of the lobby you’ll find the bar/restaurant called “The Living Room”. It’s called this because it literally looks like a large living room. They have happy hour every night starting at 4 pm and you can sit by the fire and order drinks or head to the pool and sit out there and order.

Also popular in the hotel is the Luminaria Restaurant that was awarded the 2020 OpenTable Diners’ Choice Award Winner.

Award-Winning Spa

The Inn and Spa at Loretto has its name for a reason. Their award-winning spa is right on-site offering all different luxury services along with their own custom-crafted essential oil aromatherapy blends called “Spirit of Loretto.” You can book a spa service here.

Pool

The pool was a highlight of our stay. Plus, you can get drink service out to the pool from the bar. We sat at the pool and enjoyed the sunshine and of course, ordered a few margaritas. YUM!

Gym

Let’s be real, I barely ever go to the gym while I’m traveling, but this time I did. They had a great little gym on-premise with a few treadmills, ellipticals, and weight machines. We had a great workout in this little area!

Onsite Galleries and Boutiques

Once you’re in Santa Fe for a few hours, you’ll quickly come to realize how much of an artsy town Santa Fe is. While you’re at the hotel you’ll see lots of fun little boutiques and shops to keep you entertained for your stay.

Weddings + Events

The Inn and Spa at Loretto take great pride in hosting exceptional events. They have over 12,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor space perfect for a wedding, meeting, or conventions.

A huge thank you to The Inn and Spa at Loretto for hosting me for 2-nights and for providing a wonderful stay in Santa Fe! As always, all opinions are my own and I will never promote something I don’t personally use and believe in, regardless of who foots the bill.
