Oregon Ranch: Silvies Valley Ranch Review
This summer, I had the opportunity to visit Silvies Valley Ranch, located in Seneca, Oregon, in Eastern Oregon, about 3.30 hours from where I live in Boise. My husband really wanted to check out Silvies because of its golf options, and I was super drawn to goat golfing and horseback riding.
Silvies Valley Ranch is a 150,000-acre working ranch with tons of activities and amenities, such as golfing, spa treatments, horseback riding, a shooting range, and ATVing! We stayed for three days and four nights, and it felt like the perfect little summer getaway.

Getting to Silvies Valley Ranch
Silvies is located in Seneca, Oregon, in Eastern Oregon. It’s north of Burns and south of Pendleton. We drove here from Boise, Idaho, and it took us 3.3 hours. Most people fly into Boise, Redmond, or Portland, Oregon, rent a car, and drive from there to Silvies. If you have your own plane or want to charter, there is also a landing strip on the ranch in John Day or Burns.
Once you get to the ranch, there is plenty of parking, and you’ll be given a golf cart for the entirety of the stay to get around the ranch property. We loved this!
Best time to Visit Silvies Ranch
The best time to visit Silvies Ranch is during the warmer months, from late spring through early fall when the high desert landscape comes to life. May through October offers the perfect weather for outdoor activities like golfing, horseback riding, and exploring the ranch’s trails. That being said, in the winter, they have cozy sleigh rides that can really get you in the holiday spirit!

Silvies Valley Ranch Lobby & Check-In
Silvies Valley Ranch is a rustic-luxury adventure lodge with an outdoorsy, western feel. Upon entering the lobby, you’ll be greeted with a welcome drink (we got one made with the only apple tree on the ranch). Not only is the staff extremely welcoming and friendly, but they are knowledgeable and helpful. Once you’re checked in and have been given your nametag, they’ll hook you up with a golf cart, and then someone will help you take your luggage from your car to your room in a golf cart.
They’ll also review your itinerary for your ranch stay with you and chat about the options available if you want to make any changes.

Rooms
The ranch offers a variety of accommodations, from cozy rooms to more spacious log cabins. It has 46 rooms, 12 of which have two king beds, and the rest have one king bed.
We stayed in the Rancher’s Suite Double King room, a super comfortable log cabin room with a small kitchenette, two king beds, and easy access to the main lodge for dinner. The interiors are a tasteful blend of rustic decor and modern conveniences. Silvies can also easily accommodate groups.

Grounds, Amenities & Experiences
You can have many adventures at the ranch, like riding horses, shooting, fishing, wagon rides, cattle roundup, ATV riding, hiking, biking, relaxing in the spa, and golf. Here are a few highlights:

Nightly Group Dinner
One of the highlights of staying at Silvies Valley Ranch is the all-inclusive dinner experience. Every night, all of the guests gather together in the main lodge for a coursed-out meal. The ranch’s chefs create meals using locally sourced ingredients and a beef or goat-based protein from the ranch nightly. For breakfast and lunch, you can order those a la carte off the Lodge menu. On Fridays, they’ll usually have a western BBQ buffet for dinner.

Golf & Goat Caddies
Okay, this is hands down one of the most unique experiences! Silvies Guest Ranch is known for its reversible golf courses, but what really sets it apart? Goat caddies! Yep, you read that right—adorable goats trained to carry your clubs while you play. It’s such a quirky, fun way to experience golf, and honestly, the goats might just steal the show. Plus, the views of the surrounding high desert while you play are unbeatable.
Shooting Range
If you’re feeling adventurous, Silvies’ shooting range is where it’s at! Whether you’re a total newbie or a seasoned pro, they’ve got something for everyone—rifle shooting, pistol shooting, you name it. The ranch provides all the gear and guidance you’ll need, so even if it’s your first time, you’ll feel totally comfortable giving it a go.

Horse Trail Rides
Nothing says ‘western ranch’ like a good horse trail ride, and Silvies Ranch does not disappoint. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, their friendly staff and well-trained horses will take you on scenic trails through the high desert landscape. It’s such a peaceful way to explore the ranch, and you might even spot some wildlife along the way!
Rocking Heart Spa
After all that outdoor fun, treat yourself to some much-needed relaxation at the Rocking Heart Spa. From massages to facials, their treatments are designed to help you unwind and recharge. Trust me, after a day of ranch activities, you’ll definitely want to book some time here! I loved my facial!

Price
The per-night rates fluctuate depending on the time of year you visit. They start around $500/night, but I recommend checking out the Silvies Valley Ranch specials page to get the best prices for when you’re planning on visiting. They also regularly run special offers if you can see any that work for you.
