And one thing Boise locals get really excited about every year? Patio season. As soon as the weather warms up, everyone heads outside to eat, drink, and soak up the sunshine. If you’re looking for rooftop cocktails downtown, a winery patio along the river, or a laid-back brewery lawn, Boise has a surprising number of great outdoor dining spots.

These are some of my favorite patios and rooftop bars in Boise for everything from date night to a casual afternoon drink.

Many of the best patios in Boise are clustered in a few walkable neighborhoods. This map is a comprehensive list of the patios and rooftops in the Boise area (and some in the surrounding Treasure Valley). These aren’t necessarily all of my favorites, but in this post I will share my absolute favorites. If I’m missing anything on this map, please let me know!

Rooftop Bars in Boise

If you’re looking for drinks with a view, these Boise rooftop bars are some of the best spots in the city. Whether you’re after sunset cocktails, a fun date night, or just want to enjoy Boise from above, these rooftops are worth adding to your list.

The Highlander Rooftop Bar

The Highlander is one of Boise’s newest rooftop bars and has become my favorite one downtown. The rooftop has beautiful views of the Boise foothills and skyline, plus craft cocktails, fire pits, and a modern atmosphere that feels perfect for a date nights or watching sunset with friends. There is one design flaw and a huge portion of the rooftop is in direct (hot) sun for a long time, so my favorite spot to sit on the side parallel to the indoor bar!

The James Kitchen & Bar

The James is one of my favorite rooftops in Boise! It’s just off Broadway near Boise State and has a laid-back vibe with delicious food and creative cocktails. If you like whiskey, order The James cocktail, it’s one of my favorites on the menu.

Boise Post

Boise Post is on the 16th floor of the AC Hotel in downtown Boise. They serve craft cocktails and small plates, and the views up here are some of the best in the city. I especially recommend coming around sunset when you can watch the sun go down over downtown and the Boise foothills.

The Reef

The Reef has one of the most well-known rooftop patios in downtown Boise and has been around for years. They usually have live music in the summer, tiki-inspired drinks, and a fun, lively atmosphere. It’s one of those places that’s always a good time if you’re out with a group of friends.

Hap Hap Lounge

Hap Hap Lounge is above Treefort Music Hall and has a fun retro rooftop patio with creative cocktails and events throughout the year. This isn’t really the place to come for city views, but it’s still a cool rooftop to check out if you’re downtown.

Barbacoa Grill Rooftop

A lot of locals don’t even realize Barbacoa has a rooftop patio! It’s a fun place to grab a margarita in the summer, and the foothill views are beautiful around sunset. If you’re already coming here for dinner, I’d definitely recommend heading upstairs for a drink afterward.

Crave Kitchen & Bar (Eagle)

Crave is one of my favorite rooftops outside of downtown Boise. The food is always delicious, and eating it on the rooftop just makes it even better. I’d definitely recommend making a reservation because I feel like it’s always busy.

Boise River & Greenbelt Patios

Some of the best patios in Boise sit right along the Boise River Greenbelt, and they’re so fun to bike between during the summer. Grab a drink, enjoy the river views, and make an afternoon out of it! and are so fun to bike around, hopping to each one!

Telaya Wine Co.

This is probably the most popular patio in Boise, and for good reason. It sits right along the Boise River and has a huge patio where people hang out with friends, enjoy a bottle of wine, and watch the people go by on the Greenbelt. They usually have food trucks on weekends too, which makes it easy to spend a few hours here.

Payette Brewing Company

Payette has one of the biggest brewery patios in Boise and is one of my favorite places to meet friends. There are lawn games, food trucks, river views, a fire pit and plenty of room to spread out. It’s also super family-friendly if you’ve got kids with you.

Yardarm

Yardarm is one of those places that just feels like summer. It’s a little off the Greenbelt, but I still wanted to include it because the vibe is so fun. The outdoor bar is built out of a shipping container, and it’s a great place for frozen drinks and tacos, plus the floor is made of sand!

Bluebird Social

Bluebird Social is one of Boise’s newest outdoor gathering spots along the Greenbelt. It has rotating food trucks, live music, drinks, and plenty of space to hang out with friends on a nice day. If you’re looking for a fun place to spend an afternoon or evening by the river, this is definitely worth checking out.

The Sandbar Patio Bar & Grill

If you want beach vibes without leaving Boise, Sandbar is the place. They have river views, live music during the summer, and a huge outdoor patio that’s always buzzing when the weather is nice.

The Boardwalk

The Boardwalk has become one of Boise’s newest hangout spots, and it’s such a fun place to spend a summer evening. There are several restaurants and bars, river views, and even sand to give it a beachy feel. It’s easy to hop between places or just grab a drink and hang out.

Push & Pour Coffee

Need a coffee break? Push & Pour’s Garden City location has a great patio right near the Greenbelt. I love stopping here for an iced latte before going for a walk or bike ride along the river.

Green Acres Food Truck Park

Green Acres has become a Boise summer staple. It’s an outdoor food truck park right along the Greenbelt where you can grab dinner, listen to live music, and hang out on the lawn. I especially love coming here on warm evenings when the food trucks are open and there’s live music playing.

Caffe Lucianos

Caffè Luciano’s is one of Boise’s prettiest riverfront patios. Sit outside with homemade Italian food and a glass of wine while overlooking the Boise River. It’s a little quieter than some of the brewery patios and feels like a hidden gem along the Greenbelt.

Dude Dewalt Cellars

This might be one of the most unique patios in Boise. You can sip local wine while watching surfers ride The Wave on the Boise River!

Ling & Louie’s

I know it’s a chain, but I still think Ling & Louie’s deserves a mention because the patio is so nice. It sits right along the Boise River in Bown Crossing, making it a great place to enjoy sushi, Asian fusion, or happy hour after a walk or bike ride on the Greenbelt.

Sid’s Garage

Sid’s Barber Station location has one of the best patios in East Boise. It sits right along the Greenbelt with pond views, plenty of outdoor seating, and an indoor-outdoor bar. It’s a fun stop for burgers, shakes, or happy hour before or after a walk or bike ride on the Greenbelt.

House of the Little Pig

House of the Little Pig has one of the prettiest patios in East Boise. It’s just off the Greenbelt in Barber Valley and is a great spot for date night, brunch, or happy hour. I love that it feels a little tucked away from the downtown crowds while still being easy to bike or walk to from the Greenbelt.

Pig Latin (Eagle)

Pig Latin is worth the short drive or bike ride on the Greenbelt to Eagle for the patio alone. It sits right along the Boise River and Greenbelt and has one of the best outdoor spaces in the Treasure Valley with fire pits, waterfalls, covered seating, and a tropical feel. Grab a margarita, order a few tacos to share, and plan to hang out for a while.

Barbarian Brewing Taproom

There are a few Barbarian locations around Boise, but my favorite is the Garden City location. It has a huge patio with plenty of space to hang out, and they always have a great beer selection.

Mother Earth Brewing

Mother Earth has a great patio that’s perfect for relaxing with a flight after work or on the weekend. It’s casual, dog-friendly, and one of my favorite brewery patios downtown.

Bert’s Brewing

Bert’s has a cozy, beautifully designed outdoor patio that’s a great place to grab a beer and hang out. It feels like a neighborhood spot where you can settle in for a while.

Lost Grove Brewing

Lost Grove’s Hyde Park location is one of my favorite patios. It’s indoor/outdoor and they have great asian-fusion food. I think it’s such a great place to enjoy a beer on a warm afternoon.

Boise Brewing

Boise Brewing has a fun patio right in downtown Boise that’s perfect for enjoying a local beer on a nice day. They usually have a great selection of rotating beers on tap, and now they have a full restaurant with pub food!

Rolling Hills Urban Tasting Room

If you’re looking for a quieter spot to enjoy a glass of wine, Rolling Hills has a beautiful patio in Garden City that’s perfect for relaxing with friends. They often have live music and events throughout the year, making it an easy place to spend an afternoon.

Coiled Wines

Coiled’s patio is cozy and laid-back, making it a great place to share a wine flight or bottle with friends when it’s nice out!

Split Rail Winery

Split Rail has a colorful little patio that’s perfect for sharing a wine flight with friends. It’s casual, fun, and a great stop if you’re looking for something a little different than a traditional tasting room.

Kludt Winery

Kludt is one of Boise’s hidden gems. Their North End tasting room has a relaxed patio that’s perfect if you’re looking for a quieter neighborhoody wine tasting experience away from the downtown crowds.

Cinder

Cinder is one of Idaho’s most well-known wineries, and for good reason. They have a huge patio in Garden City where you can enjoy a tasting flight or bottle while soaking up the sunshine. If you’re new to Idaho wine, this is a great place to start.

Laissez Faire Wine Company

Laissez Faire is located at The Boardwalk. Grab a glass of wine, sit out on the patio, and enjoy the riverfront atmosphere before wandering over to one of the other restaurants nearby.

The Mode Lounge

The Mode has one of my favorite cocktail patios downtown. It’s a fun place to meet friends for happy hour or grab a drink before dinner, and I love the moody cocktail lounge vibe inside too.

Ochos

Ochos is one of my favorite places in Boise for cocktails. Their patio is cozy, the drinks are creative, and they also have a great selection of wine and small plates if you’re planning to stay for a while.

Bar Please

Bar Please is one of Boise’s newer cocktail bars and has a fun little patio for enjoying drinks outside. If you’re into creative craft cocktails and a more casual atmosphere, this is definitely one to check out. You also cannot miss the inside! The interior is fabulous!

Prost

Prost is a great place if you’re craving a German beer, or just want to hang out on a casual patio downtown. I love stopping here for happy hour or grabbing a drink before walking around downtown Boise.

Best Time to Enjoy Boise Patios

Patio season in Boise usually runs April through October, with peak patio weather in late spring and early fall.

Summer evenings are especially popular because Boise stays warm and sunny well into the night. In the summer, sun doesn’t even set until 10 pm!. Many patios along the Boise River Greenbelt are perfect for sunset drinks!
